Bismillah Ki Barkat is a story of a close-knit family torn apart by conflict and misunderstanding. Jasmeet (Kalpana Pandit) and her daughter, Khushi (Varsha Apte), who has Down's syndrome, go on vacation with Jasmeet’s husband, Rajinder or 'Raju' (Karan Nath). Their lives are derailed when Rajinder is arrested on charges of being a terrorist. In order to build an airtight case against him, investigative officer Vineet Singh Chandrasekharan (Peeya Rai Chowdhary) visits their home in Mumbai with some questions for his estranged wife. While Jasmeet tries to protect her husband, the truth is buried under a lot of anger and hurt. After a series of events, the Chandrasekharans reunite, but they’re not really a happily-ever-after kind of family. Rajinder has a new family and his two sons no longer see him as their father. And he has to deal with his little sister's jealousy and her willingness to compromise her relationship with the only family she has left... Varsha Apte and Kalpana pandit were roped in for the lead roles of Khushi and Jasmeet respectively. Peeya Rai Chowdhary was roped in to play the lead role of Vineet Singh. His character was supposed to be a cop investigating Khushi and Jasmeet's husband and his character was not supposed to be evil and he would be playing a cop who is actually investigating clear Raju's name and finds out that there is more than one culprit involved. Karan Nath was roped in as the male star, he initially declined the offer as he was doing "Kehta Hai Dil Jee Le Zara" for Sony TV at that time but eventually agreed to do the film as he liked the script. The movie was shot in Mumbai and Delhi. Most of the songs that were shot were shot in Hari Niwas which is located at DDA MG road near dussehra market. Many stills of the movie were taken there as well. There was one scene where Kalpana Pandit, who plays Jasmeet Kaur, was to be seen dancing with other dancers on a roof top and this was supposed to be an evening scene but since the time for this particular dance sequence was late, it had to be filmed in daylight. The other scenes where Karan Nath, Peeya Rai Chowdhary and Kalpana Pandit are shown dancing together are all set at night time.
